Can you text a massage? If not, then learn how.
I can't tell you where it is, but their is a generational break in the acceptance of the neat techno gadgets that we have available to us today. You either love them or you dread the next "concept.". When the cell phone came out it was revolutionary to some people. Today, many of those who feared the change couldn't live without their cell phone.
Fascination or Fear?
When a new communication method comes out it is often met with fear or fascination. So many of my friends have nice up to date cell phones, but they don't know how to text a message. And they are intimidated when they try to learn.
The beauty of the text message
There are several advantages to using a text message. So many times we want a quick question answered. So, we make a phone call. Then, make the polite "how are you today" gestures and then ask our question. After five minutes have passed we have gotten the answer we were looking for. If we had done it in a text massage, it probably wouldn't have taken 30 seconds to complete (once you have developed a little feel for using your phone keyboard).
Another thing of beauty, you can refer to your text messages at a later period in time if you forget some things that were discussed. Of course if you're the kind that changes your story from one discussion to another, this may not be a good thing for you.
Another advantage, he text message will fit into your time table. You can send it when you want and your receiver is able to view it upon their convenience. And when someone is corresponding via text, it is often an indication of minimal urgency.
A waste of time?
I look at my generation with kids in their teen and twenty's. They look at the kids that are just infatuated with the text correspondence going on in their hands and they "don't understand." Don't knock it. When we were that age many of us were just as infatuated with the old fashion telephone. The only difference is, they are holding five different conversations at one time. And that gets them many times the information we were able to get in the same time period. Even if it is worthless.
Go try it
If you're one of those who can't text a message, then find one of your young teenage friends and get them to show you how to do it. Then make yourself do it on a social basis with friends for a little bit.
Now get to business
At this point you are ready to get to business. Once you use your first text message to send a polite request to collect money from a late paying customer, or you send an information request to a vendor representative, you will begin to feel the power of this communication method.
You can be very confident that they received the message, and if there is any question about what you said then you can always go back and check on it.
